I'm in the middle of reading the book Fooled by Randomness: The Hidden Role of Chance in Life and in the Markets by Nassim Nicholas Taleb. I like him. He's a curmudgeonly writer with some interesting takes on modern life as seen through the eyes of an options trader.
One of the good points that he makes is that certain successes (by people in business) are seen as talent or skill when really they're just in the middle of a hot business cycle (like a lot of the 90's start-ups and people who bought IPOs at that time). That apparently successful person may be broke the next year or at the bottom of the cycle. So what I like is the point that you always have to look at long cycles.
What I disagree with is his theory that it's all random. As a person who has studied various systems of divination, especially astrology, I don't think anything is random. The law of karma is the opposite of randomness.
"A mistake is not something to be determined after the fact, but in the light of the information until that point."
I like the quote from his book above. Astrologers as well as the mainstream media do a lot of looking at issues in hindsight and extrapolating that the correct answer surely should have been known from the information at hand when, in truth, we have a lot more information in the present about a situation than in the past. The other side of the discussion, which is my point of view, is that we do have a good deal of information (i.e. astrology, tarot and other means of divination) that are not valued by many and therefore ignored.

Magical Reality
We're poised to take that deep dive into fantasy. No one wants to be a muggle. We all suspect that some untapped power is within us.
And it is. Maybe it has nothing to do with wand-waving wizards. Or powerful levitation spells. But the longing for transformation to something more ...
loving
peaceful
connected to the essential goodness of life
to be more healing
creative
connected to the essential oneness of all life ...
... There's powerful magic there, my friends

Change Happens
Change happens. Get over it.
On the other hand, if you could see the future, at least in the sense that a meteorologist forecasts the weather, you could:
1.Prepare: if the weather is rainy, bring an umbrella
2.Plan: If you can tell the weather will be rainy next Tuesday, pick another day for your picnic.
3.Pick: A different attitude. “I enjoy the weather whatever it is."
You can see the future. Even if you don’t ‘believe’ in psychic phenomena, a person who is awake and aware can usually see the handwriting on the wall. Train yourself to be awake and aware.

Love and Truth
This is the 21st century. Haven’t you figured out yet that if you want love in your life, you have to become more loveable? If you want a happy, healthy and sane relationship, you have to become happy, healthy and sane. If you want a mate without baggage, put your duffel bag stuffed full of old hurts and angry emotionality down first.
Astrology is an A+, numero uno way to understand the truth about yourself. But as Jack Nicholson said in A Few Good Men, “You can’t handle the truth.” Handling the truth means you study astrology and look at your chart and say, “Could that be me?” Then what do you do? Do you believe it because it’s written in a book or a teacher speaks it in a class? No! You check it out. Ask a (good) friend. “This astrology book says Leo’s are bossy. Am I like that?” If your (good) friend says something gentle like, “Well, uh, you know, you do tend to like to have things your way,” you’ll know you’re in trouble.
One time I got a phone call from a woman who wanted a reading to find out if her married boyfriend would leave his wife for her. “What do your friends think of the situation?” I asked. You can guess the answer. Her friends had already told her she was an idiot. Doesn’t anyone read Ann Landers or Dear Abby anymore? It’s the same story over and over again. You don’t need an astrologer for this kind of question.
Here are some questions you should answer with astrology. What is the energy of [this aspect] [this planetary placement] [this transit] all about? What can I learn from it? What are the positive attributes of it? What are the negative attributes of it? And, most importantly, how can I use this information to improve my life?
